Vy Allen, MSW, LISW
“Ultimately, love for the self is the deepest pleasure we deny ourselves. I work daily to be courageous enough to indulge in the purest pleasure of self-love.”
About MeHi, I’m Vy, a Licensed Independent Social Worker.
If you’re here because you’re questioning parts of yourself, trying to understand your mind, or feeling unsure how to exist more authentically in the world — you’re not alone.
I’m not your cookie-cutter kind of therapist. I show up as my full, authentic self in session because I believe therapy works best when you don’t have to perform, translate, or shrink yourself to be understood. As a queer and neurodivergent provider, I understand what it means to navigate identity, community, and systems that don’t always make space for you. You won’t have to educate me on the basics of your experience — we can start from a place of shared understanding and build from there.
Clients often describe me as casual, comforting, humorous, and direct. Sessions with me don’t feel overly clinical. They feel grounded, straightforward, and real — like talking with a good friend who also happens to help you understand how your mind works and how to move forward intentionally.
At the core of my work is a simple belief: you don’t need to change who you are. Healing happens when you understand how your mind works and begin interacting with the world in ways that align with your values, identity, and goals.
What I tend to focus on
-
Exploring gender and sexuality can be deeply empowering — and also deeply complicated. I’m drawn to this work because I know how powerful it is to have a space where you don’t have to justify or explain your identity before you can even begin healing.
I prioritize your voice. My role is to help you take what’s already inside you — your questions, your clarity, your doubts, your hopes — and shape that into a life that feels authentic and unapologetically yours. The most meaningful shift I witness is when someone moves from uncertainty or self-consciousness into grounded confidence in who they are.
-
Mental health awareness has grown, but understanding how your specific brain works is a different process. I focus on helping you build real insight — not as an excuse for behavior, but as an explanation that empowers change.
I take care not to rush diagnosis or label you in ways that don’t fit. Instead, we look at patterns, thought processes, and strengths. When therapy is working, you’ll begin recognizing your internal patterns without shame. You’ll develop a healthier inner voice and feel less afraid of being “too much” or “not enough” in relationships. That confidence shift — from self-doubt to self-trust — is powerful.
-
Your interests matter. The things that light you up matter.
I intentionally make space for hobbies, hyper-interests, and passions in therapy. Whether it’s gaming, fandoms, art, movement, or something uniquely yours, those sparks of joy are not distractions — they are clues to who you are.
I help you notice the difference between dread and enjoyment in your day-to-day life. We work toward building routines that include more of what feels authentic and energizing. When you begin integrating what makes you unique into how you move through hard days, therapy is doing its job.
How I Help
Sessions with me are client-led and flexible. We’ll check in on goals, but if you’ve had a rough day or something unexpected comes up, we pivot. Therapy doesn’t have to follow a rigid script to be meaningful.
My style is straightforward, validating, and insight-oriented. I offer gentle directness when it’s helpful. I’ll support you, challenge you when needed, and provide tools — but we’ll also make space for real conversation. Sometimes that means structured skill-building. Sometimes it means processing what’s right in front of you.
You’ll never be forced deeper than you’re ready to go. And you’ll never be judged for needing a lighter session when life feels heavy.
What Clients Often Experience
When therapy with me is working well, you’ll notice shifts in how you speak to yourself.
More compassion.
More clarity.
More confidence.
You may still experience ebbs and flows — that’s human. But instead of being overwhelmed by them, you’ll recognize your patterns and feel capable of moving through hard days without losing yourself in them. You’ll begin interacting with relationships and challenges from a place of grounded self-trust rather than fear of rejection.
That internal shift is where real change lives.
More About Me
Outside of therapy, I recharge through video games ( including Baldur's Gate 3 and Animal Crossing: New Horizons), TV, YouTube deep dives, and the occasional full-blown fandom hyperfocus. When I get invested in something, I can happily talk about it for hours.
I also appreciate quieter grounding moments — like hiking and taking in mountains, waterfalls, and rivers.
As a telehealth provider, I share my home with two cats and a dog, who may occasionally attempt to co-facilitate sessions by stealing the spotlight. Fair warning.
