What is Expressions?
Expressions: Creative Wellness & Self-Care Group is a recurring, in-person group experience.
Each session focuses on a different wellness theme, such as self-care, stress support, mindfulness, self-compassion, emotional awareness, boundaries, coping, connection, rest, play, joy, and reflection.
Participants engage in creative and expressive activities that may include art, writing, movement, music, sensory experiences, nature-based activities, collaborative projects, or other hands-on practices. The specific activity changes from session to session, allowing participants to experience different ways of exploring wellness.
The focus is always process over product. You do not need creative experience, artistic skill, or the “right words” to participate.
Your Questions, Answered
-
Expressions may be a good fit for adolescents and adults who want support with self-care, stress management, emotional wellness, coping skills, creativity, self-awareness, and connection.
This group may be especially helpful for people who are feeling stressed, burned out, emotionally drained, disconnected, isolated, creatively blocked, or unsure how to make self-care feel realistic.
You may benefit from Expressions if you want a supportive space that is reflective, experiential, and hands-on — not only talking.
-
You may benefit if:
You feel stressed, burned out, or emotionally drained.
You know you need self-care, but you are not sure where to start.
You feel disconnected from yourself, your needs, or your emotions.
You want support that feels hands-on, creative, and reflective.
You are looking for more coping or regulation tools.
You feel isolated and would like a supportive group environment.
You are navigating a life transition.
You are curious about creativity but do not want pressure to be artistic.
-
Each session includes:
A welcoming check-in
A brief wellness theme or concept
A guided creative or expressive activity
Reflection prompts
Optional group discussion
A closing takeaway or intention
Participants are invited to engage at their own comfort level. Sharing is encouraged when it feels appropriate, but no one is expected to share more than they are comfortable sharing in a group setting.
Materials are provided unless otherwise noted on the individual session event page.
-
Expressions is not an art class, performance space, or place where your work will be critiqued.
It is also not a crisis group, intensive therapy group, or substitute for individual therapy. It may not be the best fit for someone who is actively unsafe, needs a higher level of care, needs intensive trauma processing, or requires significant one-on-one support to participate safely in a group setting.
Participants should be able to respect confidentiality, group expectations, and the emotional safety of others.
-
Participants may leave sessions with:
Greater awareness of personal needs, emotions, and stress signals
Practical ideas for self-care and coping
New ways to use creativity as a wellness tool
Increased comfort with reflection and emotional expression
A sense of grounding, support, and connection
Ideas for making wellness practices more realistic and sustainable
Outcomes vary from person to person, and participants are encouraged to take what feels useful from each session.
-
Depending on the session, Expressions may include:
Live in-person group experience
Guided creative or expressive activity
Materials and supplies
Reflection prompts
Group discussion
Brief wellness education
Supportive facilitation
Take-home reflections or resources, when applicable
Specific materials, cost, and details are listed on each session’s event page.
No Art Experience Needed
Expressions is built around the belief that creativity can support wellness without requiring artistic skill.
You do not need to know how to paint, draw, write, move, or create in a certain way. The goal is not to make something impressive. The goal is to notice, explore, reflect, and engage in the process.
You are welcome to come curious, nervous, unsure, experienced, or completely new to creative activities.
