Licensed Professional Counselor

Hi, I’m Jocee, a Counselor here at RPC. I’m known for my supportive and encouraging approach with my clients. I support couples facing relationship challenges and clients that are experiencing depression, anxiety, and major life transitions. My clients are often struggling with communication, trust, or a lack of connection.

Are you looking for ways to deal with your current stressors and overcoming barriers that keep you from achieving your goals? Are you a couple in a place of tension and conflict that is looking for someone to help you get through your conflicts, feel less stuck, turn towards each other, and feel like a happy couple over being in constant conflict? We may be a great fit!

I like to try to emphasize simplicity. It can be very small, simple steps that can change things for the better. It doesn’t have to be super complicated.

Areas of Focus

Emotions and Life Stressors

Sometimes it feels like the emotions we’re experiencing are completely taking over. It’s constantly one emotion after another, like a rollercoaster. Trying to deal with the stress and emotions we’re facing makes it hard to get things done and function in relationships, we feel exhausted, and we feel discouraged in not meeting the goals we have for our life.

Through counseling, you can tap into simple outlets to relieve stress, receive validation and encouragement that you’re not alone in this journey, talk about the barriers you’re facing, and explore how we can break those barriers down. The goal is to experience less stress overall AND when you are facing stress, you feel better required to handle it.  A big part of regulating life stress is having options that help you to regulate. Those can sometimes be hard to find. We will spend time finding what works for you and what is realistic to implement. Worried about how to fit in these things that will make you feel better? Even a few minutes can make a huge difference. By the end of our work together, you can expect to be at a place where you feel more empowered and in control - where one stressor doesn’t have to consume your day.

Communication

When we’re not able to communicate well we can feel disconnected. We experience frustration. We can get into a cycle of almost no communication because of so many attempts that have gone wrong. The relationship stagnates instead of growing. I can share some tools that are simple and impactful so couples feel understood and connected. Communication is hard. It’s not always taught to us while we’re growing up.

Through our sessions we can find ways to express the things that have built up. You and your partner can expect to build emotional  connection and build a stronger friendship. Gain the ability to repair and move forward and develop a better understanding of each other. Feel comfortable discussing conflict with each other without so many fears and anxieties.

Building Connection

When we aren’t building connection, we feel unappreciated, criticized, and misunderstood. You may be in a place in your relationship where you don’t want to talk about much or connect because of frequent negativity in your relationship. You may be feeling isolated and alone. You may be facing the challenges of a busy schedule that makes it hard to find time to connect. Or maybe there are past betrayals that have created hurt and a negative perspective of one another.

Through our sessions we can find little things to build emotional connection and learn more about each other. We can work on misunderstandings and learn what makes you and your partner feel appreciated and connected. We’ll brainstorm on strategies to find time together. I’ll provide tools to support you in rebuilding trust and walk you through the process. We can process through the past betrayals so they don’t control where your relationship is going. We don’t have to stay in the past forever. Ultimately, our goal is for you to be able to enjoy being around each other, experience more appreciation and understanding, increase fondness of one another and trust in each other.

How I Can Help

I help clients to feel more connected in their relationships, communicate better, manage conflict, and feel less overwhelmed in navigating life stressors so they feel empowered. I want to walk alongside my clients in an encouraging way to build connections with them and help them to find new ways that work to reach their goals.

I am passionate about incorporating creative options into my work with clients at any chance possible to help clients achieve their goals. I also utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I implement faith based principles when that is of value to my clients.

I’m excited for the opportunity to get to know and serve you!
